Radiographic Testing (RT)

Most NDT service providers offer conventional NDT like radiographic testing (RT), manual ultrasonic testing (UT), dye penetrant testing (PT), and magnetic particle testing (MT) as part of their NDT service suite. We are not unlike those service providers in that these conventional NDT methods make up our core NDT offering. However, there are drastic differences in our experience, cost, and commitment to the customer.

We have several ASNT Level III technicians that are dedicated to continually train and work with other technicians to elevate their capabilities. We value having a broad range of ASNT certified radiographic technicians that can be used in each unique capacity you require. Lastly, we are licensed to handle industrial isotopes including: Iridium 192, Cobalt 60, Selenium 75, and of course our X-ray machines themselves.

Manual Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ultrasonic testing (UT), like radiographic testing (RT), is a non-destructive testing method that has been around for a significant amount of time. Although, many advancements in the field of ultrasonic testing have brought about advanced methods like Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) and shear wave ultrasonic testing, conventional ultrasonic testing still has a well-established place in the NDT industry.

Types

Magnetic Particle Inspection (Testing) & Dye Penetrant Testing (MT/PT)

The NDT industry did indeed start with magnetic particle inspection and dye penetrant testing, and these two methods are still suitable for many applications. Magnetic particle inspection works by introducing a magnetic field to the piece of equipment and observing the particles that are applied to the surface. Similarly, dye penetrant testing utilizes a penetrant to detect cracks or other surface-breaking discontinuities. Both magnetic particle inspection and dye penetrant testing are inexpensive and relatively quick to perform which has ensured their continued use in the NDT industry.

We staff a number of NDT technicians that have the experience and qualifications (ASNT Level I, II, or III) to perform magnetic particle inspection and dye penetrant testing on a wide variety of work pieces. Additionally, we maintain sufficient equipment to inspect small items and large mass objects that require greater magnetic fields (for magnetic particle testing). If the testing you require can be achieved using one of these lower cost options, we will suggest it. We will not sell a solution that is cost-prohibitive and unnecessary for the application.
