Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is a process that helps reduce the risk of fracturing, cracking, and stress in the weld and parent metals of a piece of equipment. Although many materials benefit from PWHT, it is critical to understand the material with which welding is occurring. Not all materials require PWHT, and some can even be damaged by the process. A general rule of thumb, although one should always consult a PWHT expert, the higher the carbon content in an equipment piece likely means a greater need for PWHT. We adhere to ASME standards in determining when PWHT is necessary and what the recommended process is.
Our newly integrated heat treatment division specializes in post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), among a variety of other heat-treating processes. Their expertise and knowledge of the heat treatment field means you can trust our suggestions and recommendations. Furthermore, our heat treatment services (including PWHT) are complemented by NDT services to inspect the weld; and rope access if the location is rather inaccessible. Finally, we understand that you may only require a trusted service provider to perform PHWT, or you may be searching for a sole source contractor to handle your entire mechanical integrity (MI) program. Either way, we can safely and efficiently meet your needs and handle your challenges. We are the unified solution.
- Pipeline weldments
- Improve machinability of parts
- Pressure vessel weldments
- High performance steel components
